SEC football programs are one by one inviting Taylor Groves to join their respective 2022 recruiting classes.

Arkansas was the latest to extend an offer to the East Robertson wide receiver this week. The Razorbacks join Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas A&M as the sixth SEC team to clamor for Groves’ services.

Groves received the Arkansas offer following a phone call with wide receivers coach Justin Stepp. The 247Sports four-star prospect said he and Stepp made an immediate connection.

“I could already tell how close of a family Arkansas is just by being on the phone with (Steep),” Groves said. “He really cares, and I can’t wait to get down there and meet him as well as everyone else.”

Stepp was the lone assistant retained by newly hired coach Sam Pittman following the firing of Chad Morris last November. Morris went 4-18 and 0-14 in the SEC in parts of two seasons at Arkansas.

But now the Razorbacks are hoping to rebuild, and they want Groves to join them. The TnFCA and TSWA All-State performer caught 49 passes for 739 yards and five touchdowns in 2019. He also rushed for 248 yards and three scores.

“(Steep) told me he loved my film and said I’d be a perfect fit in (their) offense,” Groves said.

Arkansas recently had recruiting success in Middle Tennessee. Last year, the Razorbacks landed Blackman wideout Trey Knox, who finished his freshman campaign with 28 catches, 385 yards and three touchdowns.

It may be several weeks before Groves can visit Fayetteville, though. The NCAA has suspended on-campus and off-campus recruiting through April 15 amid the coronavirus outbreak.

In the meantime, Groves said he plans to continue working out on his own to prepare for his junior season.
