The Springfield girls soccer team made quick work of East Nashville Thursday, as the game was called at 8-0 just a few minutes into the second half.

On rainy evening at Travis Price Park, Springfield was able to gain valuable experience for its younger players. Many of the team’s starters were pulled after the Lady Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 5-0 lead less than midway through the first half.

Sophomore Molly Smith led the way with two early goals, and senior Briley Frase began the scoring with a strike of her own.  From there, the Lady Yellow Jackets were off and running. Aside from Smith’s two goals, six different Springfield players tallied one goal each.

The game was called after Springfield scored its eighth goal quickly into the second half. East Nashville had several injuries, and the teams opted to keep their players from continuing to run on the wet field.

Springfield (1-1) is back in action at home against McGavock on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
