After the high of a comeback win over McGavock last week, the Springfield Lady Yellow Jackets soccer team suffered a disappointing 7-1 loss at Macon County Thursday.
The Lady Tigers scored in the 3rd minute of the game and the rout was on. The game was largely played in Springfield's end of the field, as the Jackets struggled to get the ball up to the forwards to create attacking chances.
That resulted in Springfield's only shots being from as far as 40 yards out. Few shots were on target.
Macon County (3-3-1) jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead and continued winning the battle of aggressive play in the second half to go up 7-0.
Springfield's lone score came on a long shot from sophomore Molly Smith with seven minutes left in the game.
The loss dropped Springfield to 2-2 on the season. The Lady Yellow Jackets travel to East Robertson Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. and host White House Heritage Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
