The six area teams went a combined 4-1 last week.

Jo Byrns was the only Robertson County team to lose and fell to a good Clay County team. White House, White House Heritage, Springfield and East Robertson all came out victorious over region opponents.

For the first time all season, I went undefeated with my picks. Let’s keep it going as all six teams are in action this week.

Greenbrier, Heritage and White House all face region opponents. Springfield will again face a Montgomery County opponent in a non-region game, and of course, Jo Byrns will travel to East Robertson for their annual matchup.

Here are my picks for Week 6 of the 2021 season:

My record: 20-6

Springfield at Rossview

The Yellow Jackets bounced back with a huge 47-0 win over Kenwood last week after two weeks of sub-par performances.

Rossview is a 6A school that is coming off of back-to-back victories against Northeast and West Creek. The Hawks are a capable football team that can capitalize on Springfield errors.

Regardless, the Yellow Jackets remain the favorites. This is again a warm-up game for the potential matchup of the season against Henry County next week.

Pick: Springfield 34, Rossview 7

Hillwood at Greenbrier

The Bobcats face another Metro Nashville region opponent after their week off. After annihilating Glencliff, this is their best chance at another region win the rest of the season.

Hillwood has been outscored by their two region opponents (Montgomery Central and Marshall County) 89-0 this year. In the absolutely brutal Region 5-4A, the Bobcats need to win Friday and also need to enjoy it.

Pick: Greenbrier 32, Hillwood 0

Fairview at WH Heritage

The Patriots defeated Sycamore easily in their first Region 6-3A game last week. This week, however, is when the rubber hits the road.

Fairview has a solid program with wins over Creek Wood and Stewart County already this season. The Yellow Jackets could be the team to beat in the region. If the Patriots can get a win, they could be a real threat for a region title.

It should be a good one with real playoff implications in play.

Pick: Fairview 35, WH Heritage 20

White House at Sycamore

White House has got to be thrilled with their 36-34 victory over Waverly Thursday night at Nissan Stadium. Their offense is predicated on creating holes and putting their playmakers in the right place.

Since they have made those holes so far this season, I have all the confidence in the world there will be holes big enough to drive through Friday against the War Eagles. They are 0-5 on the year and scored two late touchdowns to lose by 26 against Heritage.

The Blue Devils should move to 3-0 in Region 6-3A with ease this week.

Pick: White House 42, Sycamore 6

Jo Byrns at East Robertson

Jo Byrns lost to Clay County 20-6 last week. Last season, that was a 48-7 loss. These Red Devils seem to be more mature and balanced. East Robertson defeated Harpeth 21-0 last Friday.

In the 2020 matchup of these two rivals, the Indians broke away in the second half and took home a 35-14 victory. They also had Taylor Groves for that game.

Yes, the Red Devils play in 1A. Yes, it’s been years since Jo Byrns beat East Robertson. But I don’t know. I have a hunch. I believe in the Red Devils and senior quarterback Ryan Dowlen.

Pick: Jo Byrns 20, East Robertson 14
