The Jo Byrns girls basketball team has only lost to two teams this season: Cheatham County and Clarksville Academy.
Unfortunately for the Lady Red Devils, they have now dropped three contests to the Class AA state-championship-defending Lady Cubs. The latest was a 75-67 defeat at home Monday during Senior Night.
Cheatham County’s Alli Douglas led all scorers with 32 points, 14 of which came in the first quarter. The Lady Cubs were up 42-31 by halftime.
Carlie Hogan added 12 points for Cheatham County, while Ansley Pfeffer and Katelyn Sisco both had nine.
A 19-point effort from sophomore Brooke Dowlen wasn’t enough for Jo Byrns. The guard went 5-of-10 from 3-point range. Senior teammate Evy Helm had 12 points, and Grayson Bryant also finished in double figures with 10.
Cheatham County (17-7) won the first meeting between the two teams 45-35 on Dec. 3. The Lady Cubs also beat Jo Byrns 50-47 in the Stewart County Christmas Classic on Dec. 28.
Jo Byrns (16-4) wrapped its regular season at Red Boiling Springs on Thursday, while Cheatham County traveled to White House Heritage on Friday.
