Alex McFarlin, who played two sports at White House Heritage High School, will continue her academic and basketball career at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. She signed with the Lady Trojans in May.

McFarlin spent the last two seasons playing basketball and softball at Volunteer State Community College. She will have two years of eligibility remaining and will wear No. 21 for the Trevecca basketball team.

“We are thrilled to welcome Alex to our Trevecca family,” Trevecca women’s basketball coach Chad Hibdon said in an email. “She will add value to our program and University. She is a hard worker (with) high character and (a) great teammate, which is immeasurable.

“Her maturity, experience and competitive drive will be a great asset to a young team. Alex has a versatile game and her ability to score the basketball will be a great addition.”

She was named to the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) All-Conference basketball second team last season, when she averaged 15.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists for the Lady Pioneers. She finished top-10 in the TCCAA in scoring.

McFarlin then went straight into softball season, which was stopped by the COVID-19 pandemic on March 16. The outfielder hit .462 with eight extra-base hits and 18 RBI in 17 games this spring.

Trevecca struggled on the court in 2019-20 and finished 9-18 overall (6-12 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference). But the team signed TSSAA Class AA Miss Basketball Keely Carter (Macon County) and four other incoming freshmen for the 2020-21 season, including former Greenbrier forward Kayla Conquest.
