For the second straight year, Greenbrier High School mascot Bobby Bobcat has been named a finalist in the Varsity Brands School Spirit Awards.

Bobby finished as a top-4 finalist in the mascot category in 2019. He has spent the last year attending and performing at numerous community and school events. A sophomore GHS student puts on the Bobby persona.

“I'm so blessed to be nationally recognized for my passion of spreading love and positivity,” said Bobby, who prefers to keep his human identity anonymous for the sake of the character. “Words cannot express my appreciation for all the love and support I receive from the fans, my peers and this great community. I thank God every day that I am blessed with this amazing opportunity.”

Other finalists for the Varsity Brands mascot award include Chris Morano (Richland High School, Richland, Wash.), Jayla Anderson (Ouachita Parish High School, Monroe, La.), Lauryn McCormack (Lyons Township High School, La Grange, Ill.), Logan Congrove (Stow-Munroe Falls High School, Stow, Ohio), Mikayla Childers (Bandera High School, Bandera, Texas), Mike McKibben (Aquilla Independent School District, Aquilla, Texas), and Seth Moyers (Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville, Tenn.).

McKibben and Moyers were also finalists for the award last year. The 2020 winner will be announced on May 9 during an awards show at Walt Disney World in Orlando.
