The Connection has named its 2019-20 All-Robertson County girls basketball team.

Jo Byrns sophomore Brooke Dowlen earned Player of the Year honors for leading the county in scoring and helping her team reach the Class A sectional round. Coach of the Year went to Jessica Holt of Jo Byrns, while White House Heritage took Team of the Year.

The All-Robertson County basketball team is comprised of players from five schools, including East Robertson, Greenbrier, Jo Byrns, Springfield and White House Heritage. White House players will be named to the All-Sumner County team.

Nominations and statistics were submitted by all five head coaches, and The Connection staff made final decisions on the awards. The full team is listed below:

Player of the Year: Brooke Dowlen, Jo Byrns

Resume: 17 PTS, 8 REB, 2.6 STL, District 9-A POY

As a freshman in 2018-19, Dowlen burst onto the scene and earned a spot on the All-Robertson County Second Team by averaging 11 points and six rebounds. The shooting guard continued her progression toward stardom by boosting those totals this season even as opposing defenses tried to limit her production. Dowlen projects as a college prospect for the 2022 class.

Coach of the Year: Jessica Holt, Jo Byrns

Resume: 20-7 record, District 9-A champions, Region 5-A runner-up

Holt guided the Lady Red Devils to their second straight Class A sectional appearance, but Jo Byrns lost both contests to perennial state contender Loretto. Jo Byrns beat McEwen for the District 9-A tournament title and finished second behind Richland in Region 5-A. After earning 22 wins last season, Holt led her squad to the 20-win plateau again this year.

Team of the Year: White House Heritage

Resume: 23-8, District 9-AA runner-up, 5-0 vs. RobCo opponents

The Lady Patriots were the strongest overall team in Robertson County. They went undefeated against county opponents (though they did not play Jo Byrns) and had an area-best 23 wins. Coach Clay Head and a starting lineup of five seniors ended their season with a 45-42 loss to Maplewood in the Region 5-AA semifinals on March 2.
