Nebraska’s spring game represents an opportunity for the redshirts who’ve been waiting around for a year. They’ve watched their team go 4-8 without being able to help. They've seen the coaches they committed to get fired and are now thrown into a system they weren’t recruited for. But now they're antsy to play in a game for the first time since Friday nights back home — and prove they fit.

I like straight talk. Most, if not all, Nebraskans appreciate straight talk. That's a good thing, because it has returned to Memorial Stadium. Scott Frost speaks his mind, tells you what he thinks, whether or not you agree with it or want to hear it. There’s nothing malicious about it. It’s not a purpose pitch. It’s all very matter of fact. Plain and simple, it’s Frost.

Joey Lucchesi, a rookie starter for the San Diego Padres, spoke about playing for Steve Bieser at Southeast Missouri State. Lucchesi has come out of the gate strong, currently ranked seventh in the National League with a 1.66 ERA.
