CEDAR HILL – Combining two of the biggest nights of the year, Jo Byrns hosted Kipp – Nashville for Coming Home and Senior Night. The girls took a dominating 67-16 win, while the boys won 66-43.

The girls never gave Kipp a chance, outscoring them 19-2 in just the first quarter to control the game early. Of the 19 points, 10 were scored by the Lady Devils’ leading scorer Evy Helm, who was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.

The boys went ahead 7-6 in the first quarter to give Kipp a chance, but outscored them the second quarter 19-8, putting the game in Jo Byrns’ control. As a team, Jo Byrns went 9-of-16 from the field, but they were led by leading scorer Dane Hankins, who scored 7 points in the second quarter and 4 points in the fourth quarter.

With the closing out the regular season, the district tournament is the next game for the Red Devils. The tournament begins Monday at Houston County High School.

The girls finished in third place and the boys had a three-way tie between with McEwen and East Robertson. First place comes down to a coin flip before heading into the semifinal of the district tournament.
