On July 18, 2020, the Lord called home another one of his faithful soldiers. Robert Dee Woodson, 83, of Springfield, Tennessee was born to the late Admire and Ethel Woodson on January 17, 1937.
He is preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
He married the love of his life Peggy on July 12, 1957, and they have four children, Steve (Vickie), Ilisa, Tony, and Lynell (Johnny). He was self-employed for 40 years as a concrete finisher.
Robert Dee accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and became a member of Beard’s Chapel Baptist Church. He was well known for his singing and playing the piano. He would often accompany Reverend Samuel H. Grider of Beard’s Chapel Baptist Church by singing “The Little Wooden Church Out on the Hill.” He sang in various groups throughout his lifetime. The first group was the Gospel 5 and there were various others. He founded the male chorus at Beard’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Robert Dee is survived by his spouse, Peggy Woodson; four children; five grandchildren, Corey Chatman, Latoya (Kelsie) Henning, Danielle (Myron) Walker, Ashley Woodson, and Jonel Gardner; One grandchild preceded him in death, Natalie Woodson; three step-grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great grandchild and one sister of Indianapolis Indiana along with a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service was Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at W. D. Crowder Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Taylor, Eulogy and interment were in Restlawn Memorial Garden.
