Ricky L. Chatman was born March 20, 1960 in Springfield, Tennessee to the late Neely Nathaniel “Knocker” Chatman and the late Christine Dowlen Chatman. He transitioned from his Earthly Home to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Ricky professed Christ as his Savior at a young age and united with Greater South Baptist Church. He enjoyed attending, worshipping, and praising God and did so until his health prevented him.
He was employed in various jobs with most recently being at Unarco as a forklift driver. He was a 1978 graduate of Springfield High School where he was an outstanding football player. He went on to play football at Vanderbilt University and Western Kentucky University where he was a record holder for kick-offs and punt returns for touchdowns at one time in the state.
He was married to Teresa McKissack and two children were born to that union; one son, Ronald “Jolly” Chatman, preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents, and son, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Joe H. Chatman.
He leaves to cherish his memories: children, Ricky Lynn Williams of Clarksville, TN and Rechelle Chatman of Montgomery, AL; seven grandchildren; sisters, Gladys (Joe) Fort, Pamela (Tim) Baker, Teresa (Robert) Besser, Katherine, Linda, Kay and Tina Chatman, and Brenda Payne; brothers, James (Gaynell), Nathaniel, Wayne, Bobby, and Willie Chatman of Springfield, TN; special friend, Sagan French; a very devoted nephew, Keenan Chatman, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service was Friday, October 23, 2020, 1 pm at First Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Ricky Summers, Eulogy; Interment: Restlawn Memorial Garden, Cedar Hill, TN.
