Edna Ruth Kirby,88, of White House went home to be with the Lord Sunday, November 24, 2019 at White House Health Care & Rehab.
She was born September 20, 1931 in Greenbrier, TN to Ira and Loraine Leftwich Briggs. She worked as a cafeteria manager for Metro Schools before her retirement and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Burton N. Fuqua and Gerald A. Kirby, Sr.; three brothers, Vernon, Kemp and Bobby Briggs; and son-in-law, Rickey Bell.
She is survived by her son, Gerald A. "Jerry" Kirby, Jr., White House, TN; daughters, Janet Fuqua (Larry) Osborne, White Bluff, TN, Gayle Bell, Springfield, TN and Tina (Jeff) Hale, Cottontown, TN; brothers, Maurice Briggs, White House, TN and Jerry (Norma) Briggs, FL; sisters, Mildred Carr, MI, Betty Callis, Hermitage, TN, Beverly Scurlock, Hendersonville, TN, Faye Adcock, Joelton, TN and Judy Morris, Donelson, TN; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Dr. Alec Cort officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Goodlettsville with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation is planned for Tuesday, November 26, 2019 2 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, November 27, 2019 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
