Donald Lee “Donny” Poston, 76, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 11, 2019 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Jim Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with the “Poston & Friends Band”, Greg Stephens, Charlie Wilkerson, Paul Wilkerson, George Anderson, Glen Mason and Roger Carroll serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Wallace West, Steve Fisher, Mark Hand, Lewis Heatherly, David Speer, Calvin Aschoff, Ray Peavey, Patrick Smith, David Head and Ricky Head.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m.
Mr. Poston was born November 5, 1942 in Davidson County to the late Barton and Pearl Ellis Poston. He taught himself to play the guitar in High School and has enjoyed playing lead guitar all these years on Rock, Gospel, Country and Bluegrass songs. Mr. Poston was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard Reserves, worked at Acme Boot, Electrolux and Elmwood Cemetery, was a TN Vols fan and was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Mr. Poston is survived by his son, Don Poston, Jr. of Murfreesboro; sister, Fay Poston Hallmark of Springfield; niece, Kim Peavey of Ashland City; and great-nieces, Kara Wilson of Ashland City and Kelsey Wilson of Knoxville.
