Charles “Wayne” Cook, age 79, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 12, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Bob Filson and Brother Doug Spain officiating.
Burial will follow in the Owens Chapel Cemetery with Ruben Toothman, Will Ed Osborne, Terry Hester, Steve Bernard, Scott Cook and Bobby Chowning serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are James F. Cook, Tim Black and Ronnie Fuqua.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2019 and again on Friday beginning at noon until the hour of service at 2 p.m.
Mr. Cook was born May 28, 1940 in Springfield to the late Percy and Ruby Osborne Cook. He was a member of the Owens Chapel United Methodist Church, he was a farmer and was previously employed by the Robertson County ASCS Office as a land surveyor.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cook is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Vanderpool Cook.
He is survived by his son, Chris Cook of Springfield; daughter, Beth (Ken) Toothman of Cedar Hill; brothers, William “Pete” (Jo) Cook of Springfield and Richard Cook of Bloomer, WI; and grandchildren, Ruben Toothman and Roxie Toothman. Mr. Cook is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
