Billy Daniel Swann, 82,was born Nov. 28,1937 to the late Annie Mae Samuels and Leonard Swann from Orlinda, TN. On Thursday Jan. 30, 2020, our Lord and Savior saw fit for Billy Swann to take his rest.
He was a faithful member of Mt Pleasant Baptist Church. He later joined City of Faith International.
Billy was educated in the Robertson County School System and was a 1957 graduate of Bransford High School.
He was united in matrimony to Elaine Woodard on June 29,1974. He has four children, Sherry Treadway, Terry Swann, Tracy (Sondra) Swann and Michelle (Dion) Darnell.
He was employed for many years and retired from East Tennessee Natural Gas Company. After retirement and always having a desire to be working
and helping others, he was employed with Mid Cumberland Transportation and later with Robertson County School System with the transportation department.
He was recognized and featured on the Bicentennial Celebration for Robertson County. Billy blessed so many lives with his God given talent of playing the saxophone. He added much joy, love and inspiration to church services, funerals and special occasions as he played Precious Lord, Amazing Grace and many other inspirational songs. His talented skills of playing the saxophone will truly be missed.
Billy Swann was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Annie Mae Swann; siblings: Eris Strain, Vernita Bell and Eugene Swann; granddaughter, Sharee McDonald; and nephew, Ruben Bell.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Elaine of 45 years; son, Tracy (Sondra) Swann; daughters: Sherry Swann, Terry Swann and Michelle
(Dion) Darnell; grandkids: Deondria Darnell, Elysia Darnell, Tehkia (Eric) Jordan, Mark (Stephanie) Swann, Corey (Rudy) Brown, Brandon Treadway, Sharae
McDonald and Tiffany Rawlins; great-grandkids: Desmond Brown, Mark Swann Jr., Londyn Swann, Nevaeh Swann, and Serenity Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 3, 2020 at 1 p.m. at City of Faith Church with Pastor Robert Gardner, Eulogist. The Internment was in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery in Orlinda, TN.
