Police siren

A fatal single-vehicle accident occurred last Tuesday, Aug. 6 on Highway 31W. According to White House Police Chief Pat Brady, witnesses observed a maroon Chevy Blazer driving erratically just before it swerved into the oncoming lane and continued across the road hitting trees along the shoulder.

The driver, 63-year old George Miguel (Mike) Oliver, died at the scene. Also in the car was his father, 87-year old George Westly Oliver, who was injured and was extricated by emergency responders. Both were White House residents.

(Mike) Oliver was an employee at Wal-Mart in White House. No other cars were involved in the crash and the cause of the accident is unknown. Investigators are awaiting final toxicology reports but do not believe that drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident.

No arrangements have yet been made though a fund is expected to be set up to assist the senior Mr. Oliver with expenses.
