On Friday, Jan. 31, Springfield resident Marcus Wilson, 37, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
According to the arrest affidavit, a police officer was dispatched to a fight in progress involving three men at a residence. The officer observed one man holding another man to the ground while the third man stood to the side with an injury to the right side of the head.
Official documents state the victim arrived home where Wilson approached the front of his vehicle, opened the passenger car door and told him to get out. A verbal altercation began between the victim and Wilson which escalated into a fight. The victim stated Wilson hit him over the head with a whiskey bottle, causing it to shatter.
The affidavit explained a bystander witnessed the fight in progress and assisted the victim by holding Wilson to ground until authorities arrived.
Wilson is currently in jail with bond set at $45,000. His first court date is scheduled for Feb. 11.
