A Springfield man was arrested Jan. 21, and charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and three counts of aggravated assault stemming from two separate incidents.
According to the arrest affidavit, John Kyler Osborne, 23, robbed the Advance Auto Parts store in Springfield at gunpoint on Thursday, Jan. 16. The victim stated a 6 to 8-inch chrome revolver was pointed at his face followed by the demand to give Osborne the money. Osborne took about $200 before fleeing on foot to a Buick Rendevous with a red, rusted driver’s door.
The affidavit states that Osborne committed another robbery at gunpoint at the Dollar General on Tom Austin Highway in Springfield on Monday, Jan. 20. The store’s surveillance video showed a man walk into the store with a dark hooded sweatshirt, a red bandana covering their face, a brown hat with an image of a dog, gray sweatpants with strips on the sides and darker colored shoes with white soles.
The subject reportedly pulled a revolver from his pocket and again demanded money be given to him. A silver SUV was seen leaving immediately after the encounter.
Official documents state a search warrant was obtained for Osborne’s home where the revolver from both crimes, the clothes from the second incident and a silver Buick Rendevous was located. Despite attempting to flee through his bedroom window, Osborne was detained by officers and taken into custody.
Osborne is being held in jail with a $260,000 bond. His first court date is expected to be Feb. 4.
