A new restaurant opening in White House this week will be offering familiar Southern favorites with an upscale twist. EJ’s is planning a grand opening celebration Thursday, Dec. 5 and will feature a unique menu that is best described as eclectic according to Erica J. Garton, owner of EJ’s.
Southern staples like fried chicken with waffles and biscuits with gravy will share a menu with healthy options and gluten free choices. Shrimp and grits, biscuits and gravy and eggs benedict are some of the entrée choices, which will range in price from $5-$11. Signature coffees and fresh baked goods round out the menu. An EJ’s specialty will be giant cinnamon rolls made fresh daily.
A cocktail menu will complement the entrees. Restaurant-goers will be able to try popular drinks like the Bloody Mary and Mimosas along with originals like hot peanut butter cup whiskey coffees.
Garton hired experienced chef Kimberly Barrow to create the menu and to perfect the signature dishes and baked goods. Previously, Barrow ran a restaurant and a successful commercial salsa business. Garton partnered locally with Key’s Southern Smokehouse for the pork sausage and other meats to be served at EJ’s.
Garton describes EJ’s as having a “Classy look but homey feel.” The dining area has been completely remodeled as an open spacious area with cafe tables and a long bar against the window for laptop use with outlets and free Wi-Fi.
EJ’s will have both daily and weekly specials that will change often. They will soon be able to provide online ordering and hope to partner with local food delivery services. The full menu can be viewed at https://ejs-whitehouse.com
Occupying the space previously held by Pizza Hut facing Raymond Hirsch Parkway, EJ’s will initially serve only breakfast, brunch and lunch selections. Their hours will be 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Special functions may be scheduled in the evenings including holiday parties and receptions.
