The affidavit states the officer interviewed Shrum after speaking with the victim at the hospital. He was than mirandized and questioned about the incident. Shrum was untruthful at first, but eventually confessed to the rape. Shrum claimed he didn’t want to be a virgin any longer which prompted the act. He also admitted to researching ways to rid the victim of any evidence.
