A Springfield man was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder on Monday, July 27.
According to arrest reports, Javarious Turner, 20, met the two victims to sell them marijuana. The victims went to a specified place to make the exchange with Turner, who is known as “J Dog.” When the victims arrived, Turner was said to have gone inside to get the drugs, and shots were fired.
The official report said the victims heard something hit the back window of their vehicle, which was later identified as gunshots. As they drove away, the victims realized the driver was shot in the left leg and the passenger was shot in the left shoulder and back area.
The arrest affidavit said that an officer responded to the NorthCrest Medical Center emergency room about two gunshot victims. The officer observed that the back window of their vehicle was shot out as well as several bullet holes along the passenger side. One of the victims was able to identify Turner from previous interactions, and both victims positively identified Turner from a picture lineup.
Official documents reported that the victims were transported from NorthCrest for surgery to repair the gunshot wounds.
Turner is currently being held at the Robertson County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond. His court date is scheduled for Sept. 28, 2020.
