The Jill Kelly Real Estate Team at Chamberlain Realty, along with members of the White House TN Lady Squad, lent a helping hand last week by hosting a blood drive in partnership with The American Red Cross.

Along with the county needing help, the Red Cross said they urgently needed blood donors because of the coronavirus. The Colorado Grill donated space for the drive which was open to donors of all blood types.

“The two reasons why I chose to do the blood drive with American Red Cross is because it’s February, so it’s the month of love and hearts,” said Kelly. “But also, because with COVID, we have not been able to really get out into the community and serve a whole lot as a large group.

“This was a way to serve the citizens of White House. We were able to give back safely through the blood donations, and not feel like we were risking anything.”

Ultimately, 38 people gave away their blood – that’s 114 people who will be helped.

While it was the was the first time the two groups had hosted a blood drive together, they plan to host one every six months.

For future drives, Kelly said she hopes to have 200 people commit to donating blood.

“Anytime somebody is able to do something like give blood, it gives them a feel-good feeling, because they know they’ve done something that made a difference in the world. Honestly, my entire goal in life is to give other people this kind of purpose.”
