Residents can get their Christmas shopping wrapped up early and support local schools at the same time by shopping local this Saturday.
Small Business Saturday will be celebrating all local businesses in Robertson County with a special Shop the Square event in Downtown Springfield on Nov. 30.
Shop the Square will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring over 25 businesses in the Historic Square area. Guests can pick up a punch card at any participating merchant. Shoppers will receive punches at each place they make a purchase for a chance to win a gift basket donated by downtown merchants.
Shop the Square is hosted by the Robertson County Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President Jordan Osborne expressed the chamber’s appreciation for the many small businesses throughout the county.
“Each of our merchants are unique in their own way, even the ones who sell similar products. They each offer different experience in their shops,” Osborne said. “These small business owners are what create the unique fingerprint that is Robertson County.”
Robertson County Mayor Billy Vogle believes small businesses are very important to the community, especially since 100 percent of sales taxes go toward the schools.
“We appreciate anybody at all times to shop our small businesses around Robertson County,” Vogle said. “We want to keep all our sales dollars and taxes inside the county because it does help our schools.”
Everyone is invited to come out on Saturday to support the community’s many local stores and enjoy food services from the Rollin Recipe Food Truck, Copper Vault, BS Brew Works, The Depot, Public House, Historic Perk, Born and Raised Market, Grain and Honey and Angelo’s Pizza.
