A male juvenile has been arrested and charged with arson in connection with a fire at a Springfield home last Thursday.
During questioning, the suspect also admitted to a shooting that took place in Springfield in May.
According to a press release from Lt. William Watkins with the Springfield Police Department, police detectives, along with fire investigators worked together to arrest the suspect responsible for setting fire to a residence located at 2107 Woodland Street.
The unnamed minor was located and arrested by Springfield detectives where he acknowledged his involvement in the crime. During the course of the arson investigation, the juvenile openly told Springfield police detectives that he shot Anthony Swoopes on May 29, 2019.
The suspect was taken into custody and charged with criminal attempt to commit murder. He was transported to the Robertson County Juvenile Court where he will be taken to a juvenile detention center until trial.
Watkins said the department would not be commenting further at this time since it was an ongoing investigation.
