Springfield City Attorney Christina Bartee will continue serving in her roll with the city, following a special-called meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Feb. 3.

Bartee, who is an attorney with the law firm of Batson Noland PLC, was chosen out of a pool of three candidates as part of the City’s policy of reviewing and rebidding the contractual position.

“Both Batson Nolan and I are honored to be selected by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen to continue to serve as attorney for Springfield,” Bartee said. “As a lifelong resident, I feel this is another way for me, personally, to serve and give back to our community.

“All who submitted proposals are highly qualified to serve as City Attorney and I am humbled

the Board had the confidence in me to continue working with us.”

Bartee graduated from The University of Tennessee at Martin in 1998 with a B.A. and The University of Memphis in 2001 with a J.D.

As an attorney, Bartee has practiced law in the areas of real estate, social security disability, estate planning/probate, domestic, business/corporate and banking.

Her duties and practices will include municipal law, land use and zoning, drafting and enforcing legislation, administrative matters and legal proceedings, charter and code issues, code enforcement, contract law, federal and state laws, constitutional law, employment law, municipal leases and agreements, laws regarding public records and open meetings and utility easements.
