On Saturday, Oct. 26, the Jo Byrns High School classes of 1959, 1960, 1961 and 1962 reunited at The Barn in Adams. The venue was beautifully decorated throughout with the school colors, red and white, in the table centerpieces and other areas of the barn. The school mascot, the Red Devil, greeted everyone as they arrived.

Reminiscing and catching up were the orders of the day. Special recognition and gifts were given to the ones traveling from the farthest distance. Jimmy Kidd had come from West Palm Beach, Fla. and Lucy (Woods) Abee and her husband, Mark had traveled from San Antonio, Texas.

A delicious southern meal of barbeque and grilled chicken with all the fixings was served.

A memorial service was held for the deceased members of all the classes. It was a somber time as each name was called and remembered with a silent prayer. Sadly, Ray Gordon Fyke, of Georgia, had planned to attend the reunion with his 1960 classmates as he returned from a trip but passed away while in Ohio. Some of the reunion attendees attended his funeral the next day as he was laid to rest in Springfield.

Attending from the 1959 class were: Mac Alford, Wayne Britton, Nancy (Burney) Chambers and Owen Chambers, Florence (Elder) Fisher and Dave Fisher, Vester Harris and Betty Harris and Patsy (Stroud) Walker.

Attending from the 1960 class were: Ray Caroland and Rosemary Caroland, Will Oliver, Jimmy Kidd, Jackie Hyde and Kaye (Apple) Hyde, Dan McGregor and Sally McGregor, George Spurlock, Virginia (Traylor) Sneed and Ed Fletcher, Betsy (Lawrence) Mangrum and Charles Mangrum, Betty Jo (Lemmons) Jones and Paul Jones and Joyce (Ledbetter) Smythe and Bernard Smythe.

Attending from the 1961 class were: Lucy (Woods) Abee and Mark Abee, Herman (Buddy) Mason and Linda (Atkins) Mason, Robert Reagan and Gloria Smith, Eddie Arnold and Nancy Arnold, Jane (Ogg) Evans and Wayne Evans, George Anderson and Vickie (Richards) Anderson, Mary Alice (Brooksher) Callis and Mike Callis, Joe Goodman and Linda Goodman and Mac Finley and Ann Finley, RB Hester and Patricia Hester.

Also attending from the 1962 class were: Dick Stroud, Pam (Britton) Schultz, Kenneth Ledbetter and Linda Ledbetter.

The hosts, Dan and Sally McGregor, are appreciated for their hard work and warm hospitality by all the classmates and guests. Their daughter, Frances Ann Camp, is appreciated for assisting with meal, organizing and photography. The next reunion will be held Sat., Oct. 24, 2020 at 12 noon.
