In its second season, Free Movie Fridays — a monthly event from June through September — will kick off June 18 at the Robertson County Fairgrounds, located at 4635 Hwy. 41.
The event, presented by the City of Springfield’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Springfield Walmart, will set up this year’s showings under the Century Stage, as part of the Robertson County Fair Association Family Fun Night series.
According to Terry Martin, parks and recreation director, this Friday night’s movie, “The Croods 2: A New Age” is slated to begin around 7:30 p.m.
“This way too, if it does happen to rain — unless it’s a torrential rain — we don’t have to worry about it now because we are under cover,” said Martin, referring to last year when some movie nights were relocated from the parks to indoors due to weather.
Guests are encouraged to bring a chair for viewing the film. Vendors as well as some food and concessions will be on-site in the Livestock Pavilion, according to Chad Gregory, with the Robertson County Fair Association.
Future free movie nights are already on the calendar for: July 16, “Moana;” Aug. 20, “The Trolls World Tour;” and Sept. 17, “Raya and the Last Dragon.”
