The Cedar Hill Family and Community Education (FCE) Club is proud to award the 30th annual Thelma S. Smith/Marion Martin Scholarship to a young man whose accomplishments and leadership qualities were exactly what we were looking for.
Colby Drake, son of Joe and Bethany Drake of Cedar Hill, graduated Jo Byrns High School — Class of 2021, he was an active member of the RISE Program, on the Student Advisory Board, was a member of the Senior Beta Club, National Technical Honor Society, as well as the Fellowship of Christion Athletes.
Colby has received awards for the Red Devil Elite ACT 30+ Club, the highest GPA Business Communications, being on the A honor roll for all four years of high school, and 4.0 Dual Enrollment GPA, among others.
Colby has strived to be the best he can be and has taken dual enrollment college classes at APSU. His goal is to get a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration, in his quest to become an electrical engineer. As an electrical engineer he wants to tackle different projects and have fun creating important technology that would benefit everyone.
Over the last year, Colby has taken some dual college enrollment computer programming courses and has created some fun projects by coding a calculator that performs algebra II functions, a golf stat tracker, he created some voice control systems and many others. Through this experience and the
example of what his father has taught him, he has found his passion and curiosity for electrical engineering.
We feel Colby will represent our values with integrity. We wish Colby every success in his future.
