A Springfield institution for 30 years, Cunningham Motors now has new owners who plan to continue the commitment to service, sales and community that made this more than a car dealership.
Todd Reiselman and wife, Cortney fell in love with the Springfield area and were delighted when the opportunity arose to move to middle Tennessee.
“We’ve been driving through here for years and we always said we want to live here and it all worked out.” exclaimed Cortney, describing their move from Indianapolis.
Todd added, “We looked at opportunities all over the place and this store, the staff that they have, their placement in the community - a store is only as good as the people it has – so that is really the reason we decided to come here. The right place in the right place, the right staff, the right brand - we’re happy to be here.”
When asked if they would keep all the current employees and familiar faces, Todd said, “100 percent. That is the number one reason that this was the store [for us].
“It’s very much a family. They’ve all been together for a very long time. They do all kinds of things together. We’re the new members to the family.”
The couple has two grown children and three grandkids. The move to Springfield is the most recent achievement after 27 years in the car business. Todd was the operations manager for another car company with nine stores and 12 franchises.
Bulldog Theo is the unofficial greeter and is a popular fixture at Reiselman Buick GMC. Along with his buddy, Max the two dogs are often at the store and interact with visitors.
Speaking specifically of the Buick/GMC brands, Todd highlighted the fact that it is an American brand popular in Middle Tennessee with strong truck sales. He hopes that the GMC commercial truck brands will continue to be strong sellers and a great fit for local needs.
“Our motto is, every customer, every time, no matter what they need, no matter how they need it - in both service and sales,” he said. “If they want to buy a Honda, we will get them one if I don’t have one. If they want a blue truck and it’s not here, we will get it.”
When asked about the greatest challenge so far with the new dealership, he said that finding new team members was a need. They are looking for employees in both sales and service as the dealership grows. They are looking for technicians to join the body shop and collision center as well. Anyone interested in joining the Reiselman Buick/GMC family is encouraged to stop by and fill out an application.
