SPRINGFIELD - Just because Springfield, East Robertson and Greenbrier are all in three separate TSSAA classes doesn't mean they can't get together for a basketball play-day in the summer.
Springfield Head Coach Todd Babington said he wants to start doing it every year and hopes that more teams around the area will be able to join them in the future.
"We have a bunch of high schools around here, so I don't see why we can't do something over the summer," Babington said.
The three teams all played each other starting with varsity, followed by junior varsity.
East Robertson Head Coach Kenyatta Perry said he felt that his team exceled on defense and with rebounding.
"Our defense was actually really good today," Perry said. "I thought we communicated well, I felt like we rebounded well."
Greenbrier Head Coach Carl Miller said he was proud of the effort his team gave.
"I thought we executed pretty well in our man offense," he said. "We didn't rebound too well, we got outrebounded in both games."
Host coach Babington said that he was pleased overall with the way his team played.
"I was looking for us to work on what we're going to work on, and to play hard," Babington said. "We did both of those, so I'm happy about that."
